After taking David Sirota’s leaf class, I decided to use his technique. I will always enjoy paper piecing now.

Lois suggested I send you a picture of what I have been doing. In addition to masks, I have made over 40 travel and standard pillowcases for family and friends.
It started with wanting to replace lost pillows/cases I had made for a cousin whose house was completely destroyed during the Chattanooga tornadoes s few months ago. They were IN it during the storm with their two teens and two dogs. The house parts ended up in their backyard with them unhurt but dogs missing. Two days later they received a call that noise was coming from the rubble and they discovered both dogs, one of which was alive!
Sewing cases was a nice change from masks, and I decided to keep going!!

The light colored single cloth quilt is a polyester/satin Pooh Bear quilt for my newest great-niece. The yellow/black quilt is one I made for my newest great-great niece; it is reversible, using the leftovers from fat quarters to make the stripe down the back.

UFO's - The tan and white shoe fly lap robe is for May, and the Celebrate Sunflowers I won the blocks in 2018 and used them for another lap robe. I have donated about 50 masks for Riverside, thanks to Gala, and made others for friends, neighbors and family.

After I finished the UFOs for this year I got busy making charity quilts, lots of them using scraps or miscellaneous blocks.

Isn't he cute? That is our godson from Tacoma WA. This is the Beary-Patch quilt by Annette Arneles. I am done with this curve piecing. It is easy but I have made enough now for a lifetime. UFO #6 due in July, it has been mailed. Terry Hanson quilted the Bear quilt that I sent out in a separate email. We chose a bear paw pattern, soooo cute.

Pictures on Left and Middle - This UFO was listed as one quilt but I decided to make two of them, one for each brother. It is called Salt Water Taffy pattern. UFO #2 with no due date yet. Mailed to great nephews in central CA. Terry Hanson quilted it with trucks/cement mixer/etc pattern...it looked so great.
Picture on Right - I made these prototypes of tie pillows using my husbands ties (he donated the ties, I did not raid his tie collection!). I wanted to practice the projects before I made tie pillows for my family out of my dad's ties and for my husband's family out of his dad's ties. I was very pleased with how they came out. The back of the pillows is the front of an XL man's dress shirt. I cut it into the correct size square and sewed as the back of the pillow. The buttons on the shirt allows me to take the pillow form in and out easily. The final pillows will have my dad's and my dad-in-law's dress shirts cut up to make the backing.

Picture on Left - Every time I tried out a new pattern that mask became my mask...I now have a collection of 6 or 7. Found a new idea on sewing a mask together on the internet, tried it, and wore that mask to church this past weekend. It's fun deciding which one to wear when I go out.
Picture in Middle - Along with Jan Kistler, my next door neighbor, we have made almost 500 masks made for family, friends, neighbors, medical facilities (VA Hospital, LAFB Medical Center, Wmbg Sentara Medical Center).
Picture on Right - I had a friend who couldn't wear any of the mask designs I was making due to his very long beard. I googled "beard mask pattern" and found this one (picture on right). My friend now has two of them...he proudly wears his at his job at Food Lion!

Picture on Left - This is a Stitching pillow. You use it when you are handstitching, applique work, etc. Linda Mineck had one at a retreat I attended this past fall. She showed me the website/video on how to make it and I finally decided to make it while we have been sheltering in place. It is oddly shaped but so easy to make. I love it...now I have to find some handwork to do!
Picture on Right - I have had this pattern for a while. I decided to make it for a friend who just moved to Texas. Those are bluebonnets. I made it as an 18 inch wall-hanging OR you can insert a pillow form and make it a pillow. This is UFO 3, it was due in May. It has a label inside, sewn into the seam allowance but visible when you open the buttons on the back to insert pillow form. It will be mailed to TX soon.

Picture on Left - UFO 5, due at the March. I had it done in time but got the flu. Was going to bring it to Friday March mtg but decided to stay home, then all hell broke loose. It's an extra large queen for our bed. Terry Hanson quilted it for me. I love it.
Picture on Right - The winter mystery was due in March which was completed early. I was unable to attend the March meetings. Here is my version of the Winter mystery. It has been given away to a senior living in isolation for now. Thanks Karen O'Kelley for the pattern and sending it out to all of us.
