There will be three meetings in May. The Day and Night meetings will be held via Zoom, and there will be an extra, in-person parking lot meeting as well. Please join us for as many meetings as you can, and bring a fellow quilter--or a few!

Tuesday, May 11 Night Meeting, 7-9 p.m., via Zoom

It’s movie night, so log on with your popcorn or other favorite treat! There will be a video of AQS Director Bonnie Browning and Contest Coordinator Andrea Ray demonstrating how to fold a quilt for shipment. There will be one or two additional short, quilting-related videos (I’m still reviewing several to choose the best ones.)

Denise Vassar will guide us on a tour of her extensive, amazing sewing studio. Thanks in advance to Denise for doing this.

Get your projects ready for Show and Tell. You can hold your quilt to your camera. Or, you can email me a photo of it and I’ll show it on the screen.

Friday, May 14 Day Meeting, 10 a.m. - 12 Noon, via Zoom

Terrific Totes: Michelle Farmer from the River Country Quilt Guild will show us her vast tote-bag collection. Shehas some great stories to share about her shopping trips. Michelle will explain how she repurposes her finds into works of art.

Joy Duke and Nancy Garnett will guide us on tours of their sewing spaces. Nancy’s tour will be of special interest to all of us who do handwork; as she says, she works all over the house.

Saturday, May 22, 12 Noon-1:30 p.m. In-Person Parking Lot Meeting

Our parking lot meetings at Hilton Baptist Church have been a lot of fun. Bring a chair so you can sit and visit. Collect your birthday fat quarter if you haven’t done so. Browse the free table. Take chances on the Monthly Mini and Symposium baskets. Don’t forget your Show and Tell pieces!

Note

Oct 10

My term as Night Programs Chair expires in May.  In January 2020, I took on Day Coordinator as well because the original volunteer was not able to continue. I’ve enjoyed getting us back up and running via Zoom, but now it’s time for new volunteers. Please consider taking on either Day or Night programs, or getting a group together. I’ll gladly help you get started. I will continue as Zoom Maven as long as we are meeting online.

Many thanks, Barbara

Workshop Coordinators

Mark and I are so excited to be your local Workshop Coordinators. We have had many of you approach us offering workshops in lots of different areas. We are hoping to have monthly workshops of some sort. Half-day workshops will be $12 and full-day $20. Locations and times will vary due to availability and instructor requests. Any kit fees will be paid directly to the instructor and are in addition to the workshop fee. Hopefully, you have all read the new instructor payment Guidelines in the last newsletter. Here are some pictures from former Workshops.

If you have any to share, please send them to [email protected].
